Caitlin and Michael were married on July 2nd, with a ceremony at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and a reception at the Le Meridien Hotel, both in Tampa, FL. I was fortunate to have Sierra and Courtney along as my associate photographers for the day.
Michael and Caitlin went to Catholic school together, where he was a grade ahead of her, but they didn’t actually know each other very well—Caitlin only remembered him as the boy who flipped off the class photo in 5th grade. Then, eight years later, they reconnected on Facebook when she saw that he was posting hilarious, dark, twisted comments everywhere. She sent him a message, and after that, they started talking on the phone every single day (he was in Tampa while she was in NSB), talking about everything from life events to the rivalry between his Tampa Bay Rays and her Boston Red Sox.
Three weeks after that, he drove out to NSB, and they had their first date Saturday night at a steakhouse, and Caitlin was charmed by his stories of dysentery in Iraq. He picked her up the next day for a Super Bowl party with his friends, and then on Monday morning he texted her saying he was skipping work to see her again. She was charmed by how blunt he was, and how he was willing to just be interested and go for it! They met up for lunch, and after that, they dated long-distance for months before Mike moved to Indian Rocks Beach and asked her to move in with him!
This wedding was particularly special to me, near and dear to my heart, because my other half was the best man—so I knew them very well prior to the wedding day! These two are absolutely perfect for each other, and their laid-back attitude certainly came in handy when it began raining on their wedding day—and never stopped! Luckily, we had plenty of umbrellas for everyone, and they didn’t even mind getting wet!
The entire day was special, but both Caitlin and Michael said that their most memorable moment was when Caitlin walked down the aisle. Michael realized how lucky he was, while Caitlin said that she was nearly in tears by the time she got to the altar from the stress of trying to be the perfect, keep-it-together bride—but when she saw him grinning at her when she got to the altar, red-faced and excited, she finally felt all those worries melt away!
Mike & Caitlin, thank you so much for letting us be part of this amazing day! I’m so excited for you both, and I know you two will love your new life together! Also, many thanks to my second shooters, Sierra and Courtney, for helping to capture such perfect shots of this day.
The wonderful couple with me and my other half... Such a great moment! Congratulations from the both of us!
