Mariel and Eric were married at the Shores Resort & Spa in a wedding that started out traditional and ended with epic cosplay!
We started early on a sunny morning at the Harbour House, where the ladies had the front half of the house, while the boys had the upstairs groom’s quarters. Mariel and Eric had actually started the day long before we arrived, though—they hadn’t been able to sleep the night before and ended up hanging out at 1 in the morning together as they were both brimming with excitement about the big day.
Before the ceremony, they had a traditional Ketuba signing as their first look, and it was obvious Eric was taken aback by seeing Mariel in her gorgeous dress and hairpiece. Seeing her finally had him relaxing as they headed off to the beachfront ceremony.
Both of Mariel’s parents came with her to give her away during the ceremony—a truly unique show of family unity—and they held a traditional ceremony, complete with the breaking of the glass and time for the two of them to read their vows. Eric promised in his that he would fight off all the spiders for Mariel, and she clearly intends to hold him to it!
After that, it was time for the cosplay portion of the day, as everyone changed into their outfits. Mariel particularly loved seeing her mother dressed up as an evil witch—how many brides can say their mother was a literal witch at their wedding? All of the guests, and the bride and groom, looked amazing in cosplay, especially doing the hora. Best. Party. Ever!
The details really made the superhero theme of this wedding even better, and just about everything was DIY. The flowers, centerpieces, signs, and candy bar Rx vials were all DIY. We particularly liked the Wonder Woman wedges and comic book bouquets!
Eric & Mariel, thank you for letting SO Photography be part of your epic party. It was So. Much. Fun.
