I remember the first time I chatted with Lisa via Skype and she told me about her fiancé, Tayler. Her eyes lit up as she described him and her love for him was visible with each word that she said. When I then met Tayler at their engagement session, I immediately swooned over the way that the two of them looked at each other - it was definitely clear that he felt the same way about the woman who would soon after be taking his last name.
Fast forward a few months to a beautiful day in April and we are taken to the perfect backdrop for this couple to promise each other their forever's at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Winter Park, Florida, a long standing landmark of the city. Stained glass windows and beautiful arched doorways greeted guests upon entrance. Tayler gifted his bride with a family jewel just before the ceremony, a true token of his thoughtfulness and love for Lisa.
When asked about her favorite part of the day, Lisa said that it was definitely the ceremony when she met Tayler at the altar in the Church, and just being present in the moment as they exchanged their vows in front of all of the people they love most.
Lisa and Tayler planned a little cushion room for us to take all of their portraits between the ceremony and the beginning of their cocktail hour, as it was important for them to enjoy cocktail hour with their friends and family. For us, it was absolutely awesome because we had plenty of time to take photos with zero stress about a timeline, and bonus points: everyone was in a good mood because they got to enjoy all the food and beverages.
For the bride and groom portraits, we wandered around the exterior of the Church where Lisa and Tayler exchanged their vows, and around the venue where they held their reception, at Dubsdread Golf Course. The lighting was wonderful, as the skies became overcast just as we arrived on the golf course, creating a wonderfully romantic feel.
We asked Lisa to describe their theme for the day, and she said it was "Rustic chic. We wanted a traditional romantic feel. Traditional with a twist if you will - we added our own personality with a custom menu of a taco and slider bar and an ice cream truck! We wanted a formal event that was still casual and "us". We don't like cake, and didn't want to do something just because "that is how weddings are done" - it was important to us that it was our own. We love Jeremiah's ice and were excited to have them there. We also love to play games with our families, so were excited to have the corn hole board for some fun."
The reception was definitely one to remember! Awesome music, lots of dancing, a TACO bar, and and ice cream truck? Wow. A bubble exit to send these two off to their happily ever after left us with one of our favorite exit photos, ever!
We asked the couple what advice they would give to future brides and here's what they had to say:
"Plan your day how you want it, then schedule the photography around that. Don't be obsessed with rearranging your day to get certain pictures. The day isn't about the pictures. The photography should capture the day as it is naturally unfolds. Sara and her team are INCREDIBLE. Plan your day, and let them work their magic around it."
What sweet and kind words! We think that the two of you are who are incredible - and all of your friends and family who made our day even more fun by celebrating their hearts out with the two of you!
Congratulations to Lisa and Taler on a beautiful wedding, we were honored to capture it.
