A Boho Dr. Phillips House Wedding | Makenzie and Shayne

For Mackenzie and Shayne’s boho Dr. Phillips House wedding, they planned a simple day, filled with joy and the blending of families and were lucky enough to have a beautiful sunny and warm wedding day. I first met this pair on the day that Shayne dropped down on one knee and proposed to Makenzie, in front of his family (and me – I got to be the one to snap the photos!), and over the course of the last year was lucky enough to build a foundation of a friendship and even bring the bride to be onto my team! Their wedding was our first time at the beautiful Dr. Phillips House since their recent updates, including a brand new exterior that makes the surrounding brick pop alongside the lush landscaping. This boho DIY bride added soft touches of prettiness throughout the Inn and her delicate dress added a touch of whimsical, especially when paired with her flower crown.

Shayne got ready in the wine cellar, which gave the term “man cave” a totally new meaning. Wanting to spend the majority of their day spending time and celebrating the day with their closest friends and family, they opted to have a first look and the spiraling stairwell on the back of the house gave me all of the dramatic lightings that just gave the build of intensity that is the moment before seeing the person you were going to spend forever with.

They had their ceremony in the newly paved courtyard in the back of the property, underneath sprawling tree branches with rays of sunshine pouring down from the sky. Shayne was walked down with his two daughters and by his mother and soon to be mother-in-law. They had the most tender love-lock ceremony with their daughters to signify the blending of their family, which only added to the overall sweetness of the day.

The bonus to this particular formal party is that since Makenzie was marrying into the Funk family, I personally knew a good handful of the group, making it super easy to have fun and hang out with friends while capturing all of their portraits.

Makenzie and Shayne have that kind of love that you grow up dreaming of – true acceptance, friendship, and loyalty mixed with a love so strong that you could physically see their hearts grow bigger when they were together. Portrait time is always my favorite, especially when the couple is friends personally, and their boho Dr. Phillips House wedding gave such a variety of backdrops, we were swooning over these while we were taking them!

With a ceremony earlier in the day, guests got to enjoy the reception while the sun was still up, and danced the evening away until the horse carriage arrived to literally whisk the pair into the sunset FunkingForever.

A HUGE thank you to the vendors that helped make their day special!
