Dr. Phillips House Wedding in Orlando, Florida | Monique and Kristin

The day I met Monique and Kristin (and their puppy), I remember instantly falling in love with the way they looked at each other – it was pure love. Real joy. True acceptance. Incredible beauty. They excitedly described their wedding day as a celebration of love, family, and friendship and they made it their own by incorporating DIY everything for their Dr Phillips House Wedding.

“Kristin and I wanted to incorporate as many personal touches as we could. We worked very hard on many DIY projects and although it wasn’t the smoothest process because neither of us could make up our minds on a particular project, the results were breathtaking. We designed the lanterns that were placed down the aisle, the succulent favors, all the signs that were displayed, and our guest book was drawn by my Maid of Honor, Esmeralda. There was a lot of hard work put into making this day as memorable as it was and we couldn’t be happier with the results.”

The little touches that made their Dr. Phillips House wedding day unique were everywhere, from the details in each of their getting ready suites, to the decor in each area of the Inn. Each bride got ready with their closest family members, and the joy was simply overflowing from both sides as they prepared to see each other for their first look ahead of the ceremony.

The ladies chose to have a first look, opting to see each other privately before their ceremony and get their portraits out of the way ahead of time, so that they could enjoy their cocktail hour. We absolutely love these moments, because it gives the couple an opportunity to really check in with the person that they love and the reason we are all gathered on the wedding day, in private (well, except for us, obvs).

Kristin said that she “loved being able to see her [Monique] before she walked down the aisle, in her gorgeous dress. I was so nervous to see how beautiful she really was going to look, and it helped ease the nervousness when it came time to walk down the aisle.”

The ladies read their vows and exchanged rings under the gazebo and despite having a first look, seeing each other down the aisle was the favorite part of the day for both of the brides.

Monique: “My favorite part of the day was walking down the aisle. It was also the most nerve-wracking. I was a ball of nerves until the moment I laid eyes on Kristin. As soon as I got up to the altar all I cared about was that moment and what was taking place. It was great to admire all our hard work next to the person I love the most.”

Kristin: “My favorite part of the day was when I was walking down the aisle with my Father and I stood up at the gazebo, waiting for my Bride, Monique to walk up toward me. When I saw her come out, and start to tear up, it gave me such a whirlwind of emotions that I couldn’t hold it together and not cry either. Seeing her so happy and full of emotions was definitely the best part of the whole day.”

After they said “I DO!” and walked down the aisle together, I rushed them inside and up the stairs and encouraged them to soak in the moment, listen to their exit song together, and look down upon their friends and family below them that were all there to celebrate the magic of their love.

Each bride had a hell of a set of a formal party, and we had the most amazing time hanging out with each of them all day long, especially when it came time for their portraits.

I have been so fortunate to connect so deeply with these ladies, that taking portraits with them is truly like hanging with the closest of friends, and documenting their love was absolutely beautiful. The grounds surrounding the Dr. Phillips House were stunning, just like Kristin and Monique.

The guests danced the night away under the market lights, tucked away in Dr. Phillips House, and celebrated love, life, and the two brides, and we danced right alongside them with joy that Kristin and Monique found each other and fell in love.

A HUGE thank you to all of the vendors that helped make this day possible and amazing!
